Regia Anglorum
Regia Anglorum
We seek to accurately re-create the lives of the people who dwelt in Britain around a thousand years ago; from the time of Alfred the Great to that of Richard the Lionheart. We are a group of enthusiasts who work hard to recreate images of the past that Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans and the other peoples of that far off time would find in no way unusual. Some of us are fighters, others are craftsmen and living historians - often we are all of these.

Rawdon's Regiment
Sir Marmaduke Rawdon's Regiment
We try to present an authentic impression of a 17th Century military unit in our dress, our equipment, and in our actions on the battlefield. Not only do we recreate battles as part of the English Civil War Society - with up to 1000 combatants - but we also organise our own Skirmishes (small - scale battles) and living History Events where we could take over and garrison a Castle or other Historic Building. Whatever the Event, we seek to educate and entertain in equal measure.

We aim to give an exciting, colourful, noisy spectacle that we hope is both enjoyable to watch as well as being very informative.

We are a group of re-enactors and living history enthusiasts of all ages - we even have three generation family memberships, who have combined to re-enact the conflicts & campaign life of the high medieval period which covers the Wars of the Roses and the Hundred Years' War (circa 1350-1490) though currently the majority of members plump for the later end of this period.
At present we form the largest medieval re-enactment group in the UK

Coll. John Hampden's Regiment
Coll. John Hampden's Regiment of Foote is a re-enactment group, an integral part of the Roundhead Association and the English Civil War Society. Founded in 1974, the regiment was named in honour of the real-life regiment commanded in the seventeenth century by JOHN HAMPDEN MP, one of the pivotal English figures of the 1630s, that took the field in 1642, to stand up against Tyranny and Oppression! John Hampden was known in his lifetime as "Patriae Pater", the father of the people, and had he not been tragically killed in the Civil War, the outcome might have been very different.

The 2nd Battalion 95th Rifles
The 2nd Battalion 95th Rifles

The 2nd Battalion 95th Rifles Re-enactment Group was formed in 1998 though some of our members have many years of re-enacting experience behind them. Our aim is to portray the 2/95th as they would have been whilst on active service primarily during the Peninsular War (1808-1814) and the Waterloo Campaign of 1815. All of our uniforms and equipment are based on existing original examples and from the uniform regulations of the time. Even our drill and tactics are taken from Rifle Drill Manuals of 1803 and 1807.
Living history is a very important part of our unit as a soldier could spend more time in the camp than on the battlefield. It also gives the women and children of the unit a chance to recreate the way of life for a family of a Napoleonic soldier. All our food and drink are made from period recipes and cooked over an open fire which becomes the heart of the camp. We are very much a family based unit with members from all over England, and our events not only take us all over the country but Europe as well.

95th Rifle Regiment of Foot
95th Rifle Regiment of Foot
The 95th Rifles are a Living History Society. As a regiment we re-enact the lives of soldiers and camp followers during the Napoleonic Wars, from dramatic battles to period encampments. Formed in 1800 as ?The Experimental Corp of Riflemen? the 95th were to fight in many a battle and build up such a reputation as they would be known as the elite of the British army. We re-enact from 1800 to 1816, covering the whole of the Peninsular War right up to the most decisive battle of all time which was to change the course of history forever, Waterloo.

51st Light Infantry Napoleonic Re-enactment Group
We are a small group of re-enactors who are branching out on a new venture to represent the 51st (2nd Yorkshire, West Riding) Light Infantry from 1809 - 1815. This is a small part in the history of a well established and honourable Regiment which can trace it roots from 1755, evolving to become the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI), but was also a time of great achievement and valiant acts during the struggles between Napoleon's Grand Armée and Wellington's army.

Colchester Historical Enactment Society - 18th Century Maritime
Colchester Historical Enactment Society - 18th Century Maritime
Our aim is to be as authentic as possible in our representation of the costume and equipment of the "Golden Age" of pirates. However, The modern image of pirates has been so colored over the years by the works of illustrators such as Howard Pyle, and so in turn by the interpretations of Hollywood, that it has become almost impossible to separate the fact from the fiction. After a great deal of research and a visits to several collections of 18th century costume, including the Victoria & Albert museum, we believe that we have created as accurate as possible a representation of the costume and equipment of the "Gentlemen of Fortune" (and also the ladies) during the Golden Age of Piracy.

Heilbron Commando
Our modern Heilbron Commando is composed of a number of dedicated reenactment enthusiasts from the Netherlands and England. Our aim is to faithfully reproduce life 'on commando' of a korporaalskap, or section, of the historical Heilbron Commando for educational purposes but also, above all, for enjoyment. We make every effort to clothe ourselves in the same type of clothes that were worn by the Boers in this war, to arm ourselves with correct weapons and equipment and to reproduce a camp as it might have looked at the Siege of Ladysmith.

Lord Orkney's Regiment
We are a military regiment who bring to life the campaigns of Marlborough and his world during the reign of Queen Anne by portraying Lord Orkney's Regiment, the ancestor of the modern Royal Scots Regiment.  Founded in 2001 to re-create the war of the Spanish Succession of 1701 - 1714 (called Queen Anne's War in America), the initial impetus was to equip and train a unit of soldiers to bridge a gap in this under-represented period of British History.

The Regency Club
Our mutual aim is quality combined with authenticity that existed in society in the early 19th century Europe, and to reflect those times in which the ball and battles seamlessly combined in that period; that jewels and sword, Medals and Orders, silks, gold and silver lace, bullion epaulettes, boots and dancing pumps were worn with debonair nonchalance in the ballroom and scarcely caste off before entering the battlefield.
