Make a Donation

The Royal Gunpowder Mills is grateful for any donations however, big or small in helping to look after the wonderful heritage and wildlife of the site and making it accessible for everyone for the many learning opportunities it offers and of course, to enjoy.

As a charity and independent visitor attraction, all funds raised from ticket sales, shop and café help to continue our work, but there many ways that you can contribute to the general up-keep and particular projects covering all aspects of the site:

Heritage

Looking after the twenty listed building, the Scheduled Ancient Monument, the archiving the many artefacts all requires regular funding. The cost of conservation never decreases!

Wildlife

The woodland area, once so important in the manufacture of charcoal, is now designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and with the remains of the extensive waterways and old buildings provide a home for a wide variety of wildlife - from bats to otters and herons to hobby. Visitors enjoy catching that glimpse of a woodpecker, spotting the herd of fallow deer or that elusive kingfisher and we want to protect and look after this important green space and its biodiversity.

Learning

We want to involve and tell people about the fascinating history and stories of this important place over its 300 year working life, as well as improving, developing and increasing the accessibility to all for enjoyment and learning.

Here is what one person has done:
Mr Compton did not want presents from family and friends on his birthday, so asked for a donation towards the installation of heating for two of our buildings which are used as classrooms in the Winter time. Over £500 was donated.

So if you have an occasion - whether it is a coffee morning, anniversary, birthday or instead of buying flowers at a funeral - and would like to give money we thank you for your support. This not only provides a living memory for your loved ones, but also gives something back for future generations to take pleasure in.

Thank You

If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid can make your donation go further.  It doesn’t cost you anything and could mean an extra 28p for every £ you give.  By completing a Gift Aid declaration form, as a charity the Royal Gunpowder Mills can reclaim from the Government the basic rate of tax that you have paid as a UK tax payer.

Just click here, print out, complete and return the Gift Aid Form with your donation.
