VolunteeringThe Royal Gunpowder Mills relies on a dedicated team of volunteers and needs more support. By joining us as a volunteer you'll be helping to protect this important historical and natural site.

It’s up to you how much time you are willing to offer but be warned it’s addictive. Working in the peaceful, natural surroundings occasionally visited by the deer, rabbits, birds and squirrels, the time flies by. Whilst enjoying the environment you’ll also be helping to maintain and develop an important historical and natural site, which is protected for its wildlife and industrial history. The site is 170 acres and therefore needs a lot of maintaining. Some of the historic buildings are used for exhibitions and they also need regular attention.

There would not be much point in preserving the site if no one was able to visit so another important task for volunteers is working with the visitors making sure they get the most from their experience of being on site and learn about the industrial and natural history.

If you’re interested but are not sure what exactly you could do to help feel free to phone and discuss the volunteering opportunities.
