EXPLOSIVE EASTER HOLIDAY FUN AT THE ROYAL GUNPOWDER MILLS
Expect an exciting array of Easter fun at The Royal Gunpowder Mills which is open daily during the Easter school holidays.
Explosive Easter (31 March - 15 April) will see Professor Nitrate up to his usual crazy antics in the MadLab as he uses puzzles and illusions as part of his mind baffling experiments set to engage and surprise in equal measure.
The Puzzles & Illusions show features 15 interactive exhibits that will allow visitors a rare and stimulating insight into how their brain works - fascinating fun for all ages. Test out a Phenakistoscope, see if you can crack codes and will you fall for the clever illusions created to baffle and confuse!
The Professor is always on the look-out for willing volunteers to test his latest theories so visitors will need to be prepared for fun-filled and, occasionally, smoke-filled adventures!
Over Easter Bank Holiday weekend there is a bevy of children’s activities and amazing explosive arena events. Good Friday and Saturday will provide special Easter activities designed for younger children, with a traditional Easter Egg Hunt, crafts and face-painting and the chance to meet the Easter bunny ensuring a delightful day out.
On Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday - get set for enthralling experiments and even louder explosions as film and TV specialists unveil movie pyrotechnic secrets with electrifying aplomb in their outdoor arena spectacular.
Opening for the Easter Holidays for some fantastic fun and games is the brand new Test Range where you can try your hand at launching, catapulting, shooting and firing a variety of air and water rockets, rocket cars, cannons, and air soft rifles. Explore the history of technology through time with a series of your own test range trials.
As well as rocket making and firing, don't miss the Rocket Vault where you can see some of the rockets worked on when Royal Gunpowder Mills was a top secret government research facility.
Set in 170 acres of natural parkland, the Royal Gunpowder Mills mixes fascinating secret history, exciting science and beautiful surroundings to produce a different day out for all the family. Take a trip in the land-train or military truck to discover more about this secret island.
Visitors can trace the history of explosives in a stunning audio-visual show, uncover the truth behind the infamous Gunpowder Plot, come face to face with some real space rockets and get to grips with more than 200 firearms ranging from rocket launchers to machine guns in the fascinating Armoury.
