With lots to see and do all afternoon, come along early to make the most of your day! From 2pm onwards you can see a short theatre production – ‘The Ghost of Guy Fawkes’* and Professor Nitrate is back in the Mad Lab with interactive shows explaining the science of explosions! Plus, there are hands on and take home activities such as Slime making and Lantern making!

A tractor trailer guided tour is a wonderful opportunity to explore the history of our 300 year old site, which was once a Gunpowder factory, for a nominal fee. These leave at 2:30pm and 3:30pm - weather permitting. There are also our Rocket Vault, Armoury, and Exhibitions that reveal the stories and science behind our Gunpowder heritage!

As darkness falls you can warm up with some hot food from our Gunpowder Café and selection of Food Stalls. On both Saturday and Sunday festivities conclude with an archery display from ‘The Royal Golden Eagle Medieval Archers’ and an epic fireworks display at 7pm from ForceFX, the company behind the special effects of movies, TV, and music festivals.

LAST ENTRY = 6pm - but gates will close earlier if we reach capacity. Book in advance online to ensure entry!

PLEASE NOTE – No fireworks including sparklers are to be brought onto the site.

This event qualifies as a “Special Event” as part of the Royal Gunpowder Mills Season Ticket.

PRE-BOOK ONLINE to guarantee entrance to the site. Guy Fawkes Festival & Fireworks is a popular event and very busy.

*Space in our inside activities  such as “The Mad Lab”, “The Theatre” and “The Spinks Gallery” is offered on a first come, first serve basis and queuing systems are in place, so we advise turning up early to allow plenty of time. A nominal charge is made for the options of tractor trailer and tea-lights. Parking is offered on a first come, first served basis.

PARKING - FOR A QUICK GET AWAY AT THE END OF THE SHOW  - Use the 100 spaces donated to us by the Lee Valley White Water Centre for this show - just a 10 minute walk away, you avoid all the queues and get straight on your route home

IF YOU LIVE LOCALLY, THINK ABOUT WALKING - Crowds walk to us each year and make a happy exit together, it's a great atmosphere

STAY PATIENT IF CAUGHT IN TRAFFIC LEAVING - There are slow lights at the end of Beaulieu Drive which means that traffic can build up when everyone tries to leave the show together. Put on your favourite music, pack some games for the children to play, and let the traffic disperse!
