It is with great regret that this event has been postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. No new date has yet been set.

VE weekend returns to the Royal Gunpowder Mills on May 8th-10th  as the historic Waltham Abbey attraction welcomes back its flagship event, inviting visitors to join in Victory in Europe Day celebrations and remembrance.

On its 75th anniversary, the Gunpowder Mills will be celebrating in style - this will be our best year yet!

Military re-enactors from across the UK and Europe will be transforming a large area of the site into WW2 scenes, as elsewhere a traditional 1940's street party is recreated. With live singers each day, performances in the theatre on the Saturday and Sunday, and take-home activities for the kids, the entertainment never ends!

Friday  -  'Spam Sandwiches and Bunting'

Saturday  -  'Spam Sandwiches and Bunting' 'Sparky and Sprite'

Sunday  -  'Spam Sandwiches and Bunting' 'Sparky and Sprite' 'Helen Pearson'

Explore the Ray Sears photography exhibition, on display in the Spinks Gallery everyday, and chat to the amazing Radio Group to engage with pre-and-post war radio technology.

With food outlets from traditional gelato to delicious pizza, the whole family will be kept happily fed as you sit back and enjoy the delights of the day - to really get in the spirit, why not come in 1940's outfits?
