Behind the scenes: The Reopening of the Mills! With the reopening in sight, our staff and volunteers have been working hard to ensure that The Royal Gunpowder Mills re-opens with a bang! From maintaining our grounds, restoring outdoor furniture, paintwork and railways to installing our exciting new fire equipment exhibition and improving our electrics, we've done it all! During our period of closure, our wonderful volunteers have undertaken essential daily perimeter checks across our 170 acre site to keep us secure. Our volunteers have also contributed to the development of of new learning activities and assisting with archive queries and historical research. Our tractor trailer is being readied and our Heritage Lottery Grant activity is well underway, making this summer on to look forward to!
