Coronavirus Survival Appeal

The Royal Gunpowder Mills is closed until further notice in accordance with government restrictions in the fight against coronavirus.

As a result, we have lost our essential visitor incomes and so face a serious funding gap which could impede or even cease our Charity’s work.

In order to keep our educational work and the site cared for and open to the public we are asking everybody to consider a small donation. You can donate here or head to our Crowdfunder Page. We have cut costs to minimum and some staff have opted to work unpaid to help pull through.

Please donate, and spread the word!

Where your donations go

While closed and without visitor income, we need to carry on our work protecting and undertaking essential maintenance for this historically important and beautiful site. We need to keep the Charity afloat so we can resume our programmes of volunteering, education, events and study days and get back to bringing in income again.

After that necessity, any donations remaining will go towards the protection and repair of buildings, waterways, nature conservation and wildlife.

Please do consider a donation!

Helping us by visiting

Once open to the public, you can help by planning a visit and discovering for yourself the fascination of the site!

You can visit as a volunteer too.

Thank you!

We are very grateful to all current and past donors for their support.
